The safety and wellbeing of every baby, child and family is at the heart of everything we do.
At Little Lights Liverpool, safeguarding is part of everything we do.
We want every baby, child, family member, visitor, volunteer and colleague to feel safe, respected and supported whenever they’re with us.
Respecting your rights and keeping you safe
We are committed to protecting babies, children in our care and at risk from harm, abuse or neglect. We believe in working openly and honestly, creating an environment where concerns can be raised, listened to and acted upon appropriately.
Safeguarding responsibilities form part of every role at Little Lights Liverpool, from our Trustees and leadership team to our clinical staff, support teams and volunteers. (Do we have a Safeguarding Lead who provides guidance, support and supervision across the organisation.)
Our recruitment processes are designed to keep people safe and include DBS checks, references, employment history checks and safer recruitment practices.
We work closely with the NHS, local authorities, safeguarding partnerships and the Care Quality Commission to ensure our practice reflects current legislation and best practice.
If you have a safeguarding concern
The safety and wellbeing of the babies and children in our care will always come first.
Whether you’re visiting the hospice, attending one of our events or supporting us in another way, we want you to feel safe.
If you ever have a concern while you’re with us, please speak to a member of our team as soon as possible. You’ll be listened to without judgement, and your concern will always be taken seriously.
If you’re concerned about a child at risk
If you’re not at Little Lights Liverpool:
- Follow the guidance of your local safeguarding partnership or local authority.
- If someone is in immediate danger or a crime has been committed, call 999.
- For non-emergency advice, speak to a healthcare professional, teacher, social worker or your local authority safeguarding team.
If you’re at Little Lights Liverpool:
Please speak to the Head of Care and Family Services, Deputy Head of Care, or our Safeguarding Lead, who will ensure your concerns are handled promptly and appropriately.
