A joyful first look at the future of Little Lights

There was so much to celebrate on Friday 30 October as we welcomed press, supporters and members of our community to see the progress being made at our new Little Lights Liverpool Baby Hospice in Hayman’s Green, West Derby.

It was a wonderful opportunity to thank some of the people who have helped make our new home possible and show them what their support is helping to build.

Joined by our patron, Ian Byrne MP, guests enjoyed guided tours of the building site, discovering how the spaces taking shape will support babies, young children and their families. From specialist care and overnight stays to opportunities for play, therapy and precious time together, every part of our new hospice has families at its heart.

Once complete, our new home will double our capacity, allowing us to care for up to eight children at a time. Facilities will include a hydrotherapy pool, cinema room, rebound therapy, sensory room, soft play and a wet and messy play area. Two therapy suites will provide space for counselling and holistic therapies, while outdoor areas will include a play space for siblings, a quiet garden and a memorial garden.

Our two Snowdrop Suites will also offer families a peaceful, private space to spend precious time with their baby or child after they have sadly died, with our team close by to support them.

One of the most special moments of the day was welcoming Alex and Theo, one of our Little Lights families. Theo had the chance to take a first look at the new space he will get to enjoy during his stays with us. Having them there was a lovely reminder of why this new hospice means so much.

The visit formed part of our Lighting the Way, Building Hope campaign, marking two years since the extraordinary community effort that saved Liverpool Zoe’s Place, now Little Lights, from closure. Seeing supporters return to witness the next chapter was both moving and uplifting.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, to Ian Byrne MP for his continued support, and to Liverpool construction firm Krol Corlett and the local businesses helping bring our new home to life.

Above all, thank you to everyone whose fundraising, donations and kindness have brought us this far. We cannot wait to share more with you as our new hospice takes shape.

Help us keep building hope. By becoming a Little Lights Guardian and making a regular monthly donation, you can help us continue providing specialist care and support for children and families who need us.
